Kydon Group names Chief Learning Officer in ramp-up of employability platform ZilLearn Skills

Kydon Group, the Singapore-based digital learning solutions provider tackling upskilling and reskilling in the city-state, has named Dr. John Fong as Chief Learning Officer.

Dr. Fong will build partnerships with local and global education players for ZilLearn Skills, Singapore’s first digital learning and skills-matching platform built to keep the workforce relevant for tomorrow’s jobs.

“As Kydon Group prepares for the launch of ZilLearn Skills, John’s extensive expertise and experience in the education space will be essential,” said David Yeo, CEO and founder of Kydon Group. “He will forge strategic local and global partnerships to advance a more impactful, agile, and EduTech-enabled workforce.”

The employability platform is powered by Kydon’s learning network disruptor ZilLearn, providing personalized career and learning recommendations for Singaporeans. Through skillsets evaluation, leveraging data-driven job market insights, and identifying upskilling and reskilling needs, ZilLearn Skills will future proof careers and transform lifelong learning.

The ZilLearn Skills project brings together partners within the EduTech Alliance for Action and the Emerging Stronger Taskforce under Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry.

“Having worked in Miami, Dubai, Sydney, and Singapore, I have always been passionate about both education and technology. This role will allow me to draw on my international experience while combining both of my passions.” 

Dr. Fong has served as CEO of several higher education institutions, a professor at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Dr. Fong is also a published author, an academic reviewer for journals and textbooks, and a sought-after speaker internationally.

As past president of EuroCHRIE (European Council on Hotel Restaurant & Institutional Education), he represented hospitality and tourism educators in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He is an elected Board Director of THE-ICE (The International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education). This international accreditation agency is an authoritative source on tourism, hospitality, events, and culinary arts education.

Dr. Fong serves on several editorial boards, including the “Journal of Tourism and Services,” “International Journal of Research in Tourism and Hospitality,” and the widely read “HOTEL Yearbook.” His academic credentials include a Ph.D. from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, a Master of Business Administration (MBA), and a Bachelor of Business from the University of Southern Queensland. 

In 2018, Dr. Fong was acknowledged by URS International and AsiaOne Magazine as one of Asia’s best CEOs. EduTECH Asia also recognized him with a leadership award in 2019.
